Trends for 2010 Fall … and we’ll be the first to wear them ;-)

See it here first… wear it here first!

This is what’s hot for this Fall and Alexandra Del Lago has got it!

(trend report courtesy of http://www.refinery29.com)

1. Damask & All-Over Appliqués
Is it more furniture or high fashion? Given we’re kind of into it, we’ll go with the latter. Check…got some stunning stuff from Gryphon coming in as well as in store already… their jackets are just amazing!!

2. Electric Blue
Cast in opposing tones of deep and bright, the season’s electric blue felt modern, young, and insanely cool. One of my favorite colors ever! And yes we have some body con dresses with this exact color!

3. ‘70s Suits
Either with high-waisted trousers or blousey Working Girl neckties, the season’s “office” vibe was the perfect balance of masculine and feminine. Patrizia Pepe will be in the store for fall and she does suits and jackets VERY well! Email us –shop@alexandradellago.com if you want us to notify you when Patrizia Pepe is in!

4. School-Teacher Skirts
Falling just below the knee and paired with heavy black booties, the new skirt length definitely sheds its matronly MO. One of the trends I’m NOT doing…simply because I DONT LIKE THEM! Unless you’re an amazon/model they do nothing for you in my humble opinion, so sorry- no school teacher skirts at ADL!

5. Digital Painting Prints—Swirls of color had a decidedly digital flair thanks to Matthew Williamson, Clements Ribeirio, and Mary Katrantzou . I like it but have not found pieces that I really really love enough to put into the store! I find they tend to bore and look cheap… I would to get some Proenza Schouler but don’t think there is enough of a market for their line in SA… not yet!

6. Lace Blouses
No, not exactly a new trend, but one that seems to feel even more appealing than it did last season. YES we are getting in some lace…Gryphon did a few beautiful dresses that are just perfect to dress up or down, soft or hard… white lace is a must!!

7. Asymmetrical Draping
A little cinching, wrapping, and ruching gave some typical pieces a whole new look. ALWAYS love asymmetrical draping…when done right! Raquel Allegra’s t-shirts are great for layering the look… as are Magali Pascal’s dresses..

8. Future Perfect
Oh, if we could only captain our own chic little spaceship in all fall’s galactic goodness! Patrizia Pepe has a few Galactic Goddess (Goodness too but I think Goddess is more appropriate and when you see the pieces I am talking about you’ll know… if you are daring enough to combine Patrizia Pepe’s to-die-for-studded-pants with one of Gryphon’s jackets or coats… then Goddess is the more appropriate description! Could you? Handle it, I mean??)

9. Power Paisley
Designers like Tsumori Chisato and Erdem took this old-school pattern to glamorous new heights in either dramatic mini dresses or long, lean gowns. Hmm, no, don’t think I’ve done any paisley… again… I like it, but don’t love it, so I don’t buy it!

10. Shearling Collars
Christopher Bailey was a master with shearling, and other designers like Erdem and Richard Nicoll were on board, too, giving us shearling collars and details we can’t wait to wear. Just you wait… those Gryphon jackets I’ve been talking about… the ones Beyonce and Halle Berry are already wearing… they are OMG I have to have it material…and I’m sure they’ll be the kind of piece you love for EVER!

A few items that seem to be missing in this list is

1-LEATHER- anything leather is going to be huge not only for Fall 2010, but also for Spring/Summer 2010 and again in 2011 and 2012 leather will continue to be BIG! Anything for leather jackets in all colors (we’ve got some stunning ones coming in soon soon!) to leather shorts (get your trainer to get tough on those legs… mine has already been briefed that by next december I must fit into a pair of leather shorts!! auauauauuuu!!)), leather dresses. leather vest… they’ll all be Big for a long time!

2- TRENCH COATS- and coats in general will feature hugely again… Burburry started it and everyone followed…naturally… a great coat or jacket goes with anything…makes anything look stylish and “polished”… it can make many outifits and go from day to night… and if you buy quality and design it WILL last you for ever!

3- SHOES- shoes are always in as far as I am concerned, but they do seem to make a HUGE difference these days… Again, a great shoe can make an outfit.. It can turn a boring/bland outfit into a stunning outfit… Heels (unfortunately… MY poor feet were not made for them but I often pretend they were and then find myself clutching my husbands arm as if I’m walkin on ice..) are a must for almost any outfit and they certainly turn any outfit (think sweatpants, t-shirt, leather jacket and a killer heel..) into something edgy… However not any heel will do..it has to be a shoe that stands out, that can hold its own.. a piece of art. Then even if you just own one pair, one really stunning pair of designer shoes can change your whole wardrobe!

And here for the biggest hair trend of the season: BRAIDS in every possible way… I like them swinging off from the side in a sloppy way:-)

Happy Fall shopping!

Love

Alex
